A Message From Frank Roberts of Swanage Landers

Talking rubbish, I have been approached by a number of people over the last few weeks enquiring if some of our activities might soon resume?
Currently we are bound by requests received from Dorset Council Waste Services and also Swanage Town Council (STC) to formally suspend organised activities (both issued during w/c Monday 23 March 2020).
With many far greater issues being considered at present, our organised events are likely to stay on hold for now, however the STC Operations Manager today confirmed that she is keen to help us get going as soon as is reasonably practicable.
We are not alone in helping to pick up litter in our community, and I take this opportunity to recognise everyone who quietly gets on and does their bit to remove rubbish in Swanage and the wider area of Purbeck. Thank you to you all.

The photo was taken 18th May next to the Priest’s Way in Langton just after the first easing of the lockdown. It also shows the plume of smoke from the Wareham Forest fire stetching out over the Isle of Wight hidden behind the tree.
