Earlier this week, we did one of our favourite walks up to Swyre Head at Kingston, and I’m pleased to say that it was as litter-free as I’ve ever seen it. We picked up just a handful of litter, and the most common thing we found was plastic poppy debris from the RAF war memorial. We pick up a lot of poppy litter, particularly in the weeks following Remembrance Day. The Royal British Legion have stated, “We believe that by 2020, we will be in a position to introduce either a bio-degradable or compostable poppy”, so I look forward to seeing an improvement this November.
