Last weekend Litter-Free Purbeck kicked off their contributions to the Great British Spring Clean, and new group, Trash 2 Go, started the ball rolling with their inaugural litter pick in East Stoke. Nine volunteers tackled the litter near Middlefield and along Binnegar Lane, clearing 7 bagfuls along with other larger items. A few of them gathered afterwards for a natter over tea and flapjacks.
Meanwhile, the Wareham Wombles and Swanage Beach Buddies were also at it. Six volunteers from Wareham Wombles tackled the litter around Sandford Community Centre, and reported that it was much tidier than in previous years. Nevertheless, it still took them the best part of 2 hours to clear it!
In their usual style, 15 volunteers from Swanage Beach Buddies collected 16 kilograms of litter from the beach and seafront.
