WE’VE ONLY JUST BEGUN…..

Beauty And The Beast

“We’ve only just begun”, so says our friend, Frank Roberts, leader of the Swanage Army Link Dawn Patrol. The Dawn Patrol were out last week doing their great work clearing the litter from the main roads early in the mornings, before the traffic arrives. So far they’ve cleared the road from Studland to Ulwell and the Valley Road from Coombe to the Halfway Inn, with the exception of Corfe Castle and Harman’s Cross.

Corfe Castle is being tackled by the Clean Up Corfe team, and Harman’s Cross by the Harman’s Cross About Litter team.

Frank sent this message on Thursday, “Here’s the first batch of 29 bags ready for pick up this morning at Norden Layby on the A351 at Corfe Castle. All part of our spring effort to remove litter from the Eastern Gateway to the Jurassic Coast (Gateway is specifically located at Durlston Country Park @Swanage). This is the eighth effort I’ve undertaken since 2016; last spring our volunteers cleared 34 miles of verge!  We’ll struggle to match that figure this year.”

Can You Help?

Frank needs volunteers to help out. So, if you are relatively fit, fairly sensible, can wear appropriate footwear, over 16, and would like to help litter pick on Thursday 9th March at 2 pm, please contact Frank at swanagelanders@herstoncross.co.uk
